This is a starting point, not a diagnosis.
•
No ice at all: water supply off, a clogged filter, a frozen fill tube, a failed inlet valve, or the ice maker switched off
•
Small or hollow cubes: low water pressure, a partly clogged filter or a weak inlet valve
•
Ice maker overfilling: a leaking inlet valve or a faulty ice maker module
•
Ice clumped into a block: the freezer running too warm, or ice sitting unused for weeks. If the whole freezer is warm, see our
freezer repair page
•
Water on the floor: a cracked fill tube, a loose water line, or a clogged drain on ice machines
•
Ice machine running, no ice: scale on the evaporator, a failed water pump or a refrigerant problem
•
Ice tastes or smells bad: an old filter, or a machine that needs cleaning
Quick check before you call: make sure the ice maker is switched on, nothing is blocking the shut-off arm or sensor, and the water filter isn't past its replacement date.
