GE Appliance Repair in Los Angeles

We fix GE at your home: fridges, washers, dryers, dishwashers, ranges, wall ovens, cooktops. Same goes for GE Profile, Café and Monogram. It's one company underneath, a lot of the parts are shared, and the same tech handles all four.

Call before 11 and there's a decent chance we can come out the same day. Plenty of GE parts sit on local shelves. Café and Monogram parts are more often a special order, usually a few days. We'll tell you which it is before you say yes to anything.

How We Diagnose GE Appliances

Our GE calls are mostly fridges and laundry. A typical one: the freezer's fine, the fridge side is creeping up toward 50 degrees. Most of the time that's frost choking the evaporator, a dead fan, or a defrost part that quit. Not the compressor. So that's where we start.

Ovens are easier, because the control throws an F-code. F3 or F4 means the temp sensor circuit. F9, the door lock. F2, the oven got hotter than it should. Top-loader blinking the lid-lock light? Usually the lock or a wire going to it, and the motor's fine. Whatever we think it is, we put a meter on it first and show you.

GE Appliances We Repair

GE Refrigerator Repair (GE, Profile, Café, Monogram)

GE French door refrigerator repair
Any GE fridge layout: French-door, side-by-side, bottom or top freezer. Café too, plus Monogram built-ins and columns.

What we fix most often:
  • Fresh-food section warm while the freezer stays cold
  • Ice maker not making ice, or ice clumped in the bucket
  • "Replace Water Filter" or "Dispenser Off" staying on after a new filter
  • Water under the crisper drawers, or dripping at the filter
  • Frost on the freezer's back wall
  • Clicking, a noisy fan, a compressor that never shuts off
One GE quirk worth knowing: models with the RPWFE filter read a little chip on the cartridge. Knockoff filter with no chip, or a filter in backwards, and the dispenser just shuts off. Nothing's actually broken. Check that before you book us.

GE Washer and Dryer Repair

GE washer and dryer repair
Top-load and front-load GE and GE Profile washers, including UltraFresh models and the Profile washer-dryer combo, plus gas and electric dryers.

Common problems:
  • Lid-lock light flashing and the washer won't spin or start
  • Water left in the drum after the cycle
  • Loud banging or shaking on spin
  • Front-loader smelling musty, or the door won't unlock
  • Dryer running but not heating
  • Dryer taking two or three cycles to dry a load
A dryer that runs without heat is often a thermal fuse or heating element on electric models, and an igniter or gas valve coil on gas models. A blown thermal fuse almost always has a cause behind it, usually a clogged vent, so we check airflow too.

GE Range, Wall Oven and Cooktop Repair

GE wall oven and range repair
Gas, electric and induction GE and GE Profile ranges, Café ranges, Monogram professional ranges and rangetops, single and double wall ovens, and cooktops.

Common problems:
  • F-code on the display (F2, F3, F4, F9 and others)
  • Oven not heating, or slow to preheat
  • Temperature off from the setting
  • Door stuck locked after a self-clean
  • Gas burner clicking or not lighting
  • Induction zone not recognizing the pan
Gas oven slow to light? Usually the bake igniter. It glows, but a weak one never gets hot enough to open the gas valve, so you stand there waiting. On electric ovens it's more often the bake element, and sometimes you can spot the burn mark or the break yourself.

GE Dishwasher Repair

GE built-in dishwasher repair
Built-in GE, GE Profile and Café dishwashers, including models with bottle jets and a third rack, plus Monogram panel-ready units.

Common problems:
  • Water left in the bottom after the cycle
  • Dishes coming out dirty or gritty
  • Control panel not responding, or the cycle won't start
  • Leak at the door or under the unit
  • Dishes not drying, or the cycle running for hours
  • Door won't latch
Gritty dishes are usually a dirty filter or a spray arm full of gunk. Not the pump. We clean that out first, and we only swap parts that fail a test.

Other GE Appliances

Why GE Owners Call Appliance Insight

• We check the simple stuff first. A dispenser that quit after a filter change, or a dishwasher with a clogged filter, doesn't need a new part
• You talk to the technician doing the work
• $65 diagnostic, applied toward the repair if you go ahead
• Written estimate before any work starts
• Parts ordered by full model and serial number
• Shoe covers and floor protection
• Licensed in California, License A 50129
• 183-day warranty on parts and labor for completed repairs

Have the model and serial number handy when you book. On GE fridges the sticker is usually on a side wall inside the fresh-food section, or up near the top. On ranges, look behind the storage drawer or around the oven door frame. Washers have it under the lid or on the back.

What the $65 GE Diagnostic Includes

The diagnostic visit is $65. During the visit we:
  • Read the fault code, or run the service test mode where the model has one
  • Check fridge temperatures, fans, defrost and the water filter
  • Measure oven temperature against the setting
  • Test elements, igniters, sensors, switches and lid or door locks with a meter
  • Check washer and dishwasher drains, pumps and inlet valves
  • Explain what failed and give you a written repair estimate
If you approve the repair, the $65 goes toward the total. If you decide not to repair, you pay only the diagnostic.

We don't quote repair prices over the phone. The cost depends on the failed part and the model, and that only becomes clear after testing.

Older GE Appliances: Repair or Replace?

Fan, defrost heater, ice maker, control board on a GE fridge? Usually worth fixing. Sealed system is another story. If an older top-freezer has a leaking evaporator or a dead compressor, the repair can cost more than the fridge, and we'll just tell you that. Monogram and Café built-ins flip the math, because a replacement has to fit the same opening and take the same panels.

For washers and dryers it's age plus the part. Lid lock or drain pump on a five-year-old washer, sure. Transmission on a twelve-year-old one, probably not.

GE Repair FAQ

Is Appliance Insight an authorized GE service provider?

No. We are an independent repair company and are not affiliated with or authorized by GE Appliances. If your appliance is still under the GE warranty, contact GE first.

Why does my GE refrigerator say "Dispenser Off" after a filter change?

On RPWFE models the fridge reads a chip on the filter. If it's not genuine, it's in backwards, or the housing leaks, the dispenser gets cut off. Pull the filter and put it back so FRONT faces you. Still showing? Then it's the filter head or the control, and that's a service call.

What does F3 or F4 mean on a GE oven?

It's the oven temperature sensor circuit. The control is reading the sensor as open or shorted. Usually the sensor itself is bad, sometimes it's the wiring or the plug behind the oven. Until that's fixed the oven generally won't bake.

How much is the diagnostic?

$65. If you approve the repair, it's applied toward the total. You get a written estimate before any work begins.

Do you repair Café and Monogram appliances?

Yes. Café and Monogram are made by GE Appliances and share a lot of parts and controls with GE Profile. Monogram built-in refrigerators and pro ranges take longer to diagnose, and their parts are more often a special order.

Can you repair my GE the same day?

Same-day diagnostics are often possible if you call before 11 AM. Simple fixes can sometimes be done on the first visit. Parts that aren't available locally are ordered after the diagnostic, and we schedule the repair when they arrive.
