Whirlpool Appliance Repair in Los Angeles

Whirlpool washer acting up? Dryer not heating, fridge warm, dishwasher full of water? We come to you and fix it. Whirlpool also makes Maytag, KitchenAid, JennAir and Amana. Different badge, a lot of the same guts inside, and we work on all of them.
Technician running a dishwasher diagnostic in a Los Angeles kitchen
$65 diagnostic applied toward an approved repair • Clear estimate before work begins • 183-day parts and labor warranty.
Call before 11 and we can often make it out that day. Lid locks, drain pumps, igniters, fans: the usual Whirlpool parts aren't hard to get. If yours has to be ordered, we'll say how long up front.

How We Diagnose Whirlpool Appliances

With Whirlpool, the washer often tells you what's wrong. F9 E1 on a top-loader means it tried to drain for ten minutes and couldn't. That's a clogged hose or pump far more often than a dead board. F8 E1 is the opposite, water isn't coming in, and surprisingly often it's just a supply valve behind the machine that got bumped half-closed. F5 E2 means the lid lock didn't lock.

Fridges and dryers don't hand you a code like that, so we go by what the machine is doing. Dryer spins, no heat? Thermal fuse, element or igniter, most likely. Fridge warm, freezer fine? Probably ice on the coil or a fan that quit. Either way the meter comes out before your wallet does, and you see the reading.

Whirlpool Appliances We Repair

Whirlpool Washer and Dryer Repair

Whirlpool washer and dryer repair
Cabrio and other top-loaders, front-loaders, gas and electric dryers. Stacked, side by side, in a closet or out in the garage.

Common problems:
  • F9 E1: long drain, water left in the tub
  • F8 E1: slow fill or no water coming in
  • F5 E2: lid won't lock, washer won't start
  • Washer not spinning, or loud banging on spin
  • Dryer turns but stays cold
  • Squeal or thump from the dryer, or it quits early
Seeing F0 E2 on a top-loader? Too many suds. Use HE detergent, less of it, and try again before calling us.

Whirlpool Refrigerator Repair

Whirlpool refrigerator repair
Pretty much any Whirlpool fridge: French-door, side-by-side, bottom or top freezer, counter-depth.

What we fix most often:
  • Fridge warm, freezer still cold
  • Ice maker stopped, or ice frozen into one block
  • Water on the floor or under the crisper drawers
  • Dispenser not giving water
  • Frost building up in the freezer
  • Clicking, buzzing, or a fan that's louder than it used to be
A fridge that runs warm after a few weeks of being fine, then gets cold again for a while, often has a defrost problem. Unplugging it for a day can melt the ice and "fix" it, but it'll come back.

Whirlpool Range and Oven Repair

Whirlpool range and oven repair
Whirlpool gas and electric ranges, wall ovens (single and double), cooktops.

Common problems:
  • F3 E0 or F3 E1: oven temperature sensor, its wiring or the control
  • Oven not heating, or taking forever to preheat
  • Bake works but broil doesn't, or the other way around
  • Door locked after self-clean
  • Surface burner or element not heating
  • Buttons on the control panel not responding
A gas oven that clicks and glows but never lights usually has a weak igniter. It isn't pulling enough current to open the gas valve.

Whirlpool Dishwasher Repair

Whirlpool dishwasher repair
Whirlpool built-ins, whether the buttons are on the front or hidden along the top of the door.

Common problems:
  • Water left in the bottom
  • Dishes dirty, gritty or spotted
  • Clean light flashing and the cycle won't finish
  • Leak under the door
  • Dishes not drying
  • Loud humming with no water spraying
Most newer Whirlpool dishwashers have a filter you clean by hand. Whirlpool's own manuals say every couple of months for a busy kitchen, and monthly with very hard water, which a lot of LA has. A neglected filter is behind a lot of the "broken" dishwashers we see.

Why Whirlpool Owners Call Appliance Insight

• We look at the cheap fixes first: supply valves, drain hoses, filters, a tripped breaker
• You talk to the technician doing the work
• $65 diagnostic, applied toward the repair if you go ahead
• Written estimate before any work starts
• Parts matched to your full model number
• Shoe covers and floor protection
• Licensed in California, License A 50129
• 183-day warranty on parts and labor for completed repairs

The model number makes the visit faster. On Whirlpool washers it's usually under the lid or on the back. On dryers, inside the door opening. On fridges, on the wall inside the fresh-food section.

What the $65 Whirlpool Diagnostic Includes

The diagnostic visit is $65. During the visit we:
  • Read the fault code, or run the service test mode if the model has one
  • Check water supply, drain path, pump and lid lock on washers
  • Check airflow, thermal fuse, element or igniter on dryers
  • Check fridge temperatures, fans and the defrost system
  • Test elements, sensors and switches with a meter
  • Explain what failed and give you a written repair estimate
If you approve the repair, the $65 goes toward the total. If you decide not to repair, you pay only the diagnostic.

We don't quote repair prices over the phone. The cost depends on the failed part and the model, and that only becomes clear after testing.

Older Whirlpool Appliances: Repair or Replace?

Honestly, Whirlpool washers and dryers are about as fixable as appliances get. Parts are easy to find and the designs barely change from year to year. Lid lock, pump, belt, thermal fuse? Do it.

The math changes when a big part dies. Motor or transmission on an old washer, a sealed-system leak on a fridge that's 10+ years old: that can run more than the thing is worth. You'll hear that from us before you pay for anything past the diagnostic.

Whirlpool Repair FAQ

Is Appliance Insight an authorized Whirlpool service provider?

No. We are an independent repair company and are not affiliated with or authorized by Whirlpool Corporation. If your appliance is still under the Whirlpool warranty, contact Whirlpool first.

What does F9 E1 mean on a Whirlpool washer?

It's a long-drain code. The pump ran around ten minutes and the water level didn't drop. Look at the drain hose first for kinks and clogs. Hose is fine? Then it's the pump, or a sock stuck in it.

Why does my Whirlpool dryer run but not heat?

Electric: usually a blown thermal fuse or a burnt-out element. Gas: the igniter or the gas valve coils. Thermal fuses don't blow on their own, though. A clogged vent is the classic reason, so we check that too.

How much is the diagnostic?

$65. If you approve the repair, it's applied toward the total. You get a written estimate before any work begins.

Do you repair Maytag, KitchenAid and Amana too?

Yes. They're made by Whirlpool Corporation and share a lot of parts and designs with Whirlpool machines, so the diagnosis works the same way. See our Maytag repair and KitchenAid repair pages for model-specific notes.

Can you repair my Whirlpool the same day?

Same-day diagnostics are often possible if you call before 11 AM. Simple fixes can sometimes be done on the first visit. Parts that aren't available locally are ordered after the diagnostic, and we schedule the repair when they arrive.
