The model tag comes first, before the error code. The first three digits of the model number are the real maker. 106 is a Whirlpool fridge, 110 is Whirlpool laundry and 665 a Whirlpool dishwasher. 795 is LG. 253 and 970 belong to Frigidaire/Electrolux, 363 to GE, 401 to Samsung. From there it's the actual manufacturer's codes and the actual manufacturer's weak spots.

A typical call: Whirlpool-built washer, F21 on the display, a tub of gray water. That's a long drain. We open the pump filter behind the bottom panel first, and sometimes there's a sock or a hair tie sitting in it. Or it's an Elite French-door with a 795 number and the ice maker frozen into one block, which we handle like the LG it really is. Either way, the part gets metered before it gets blamed, and you see the reading.
