Washer throws a drain error: Before blaming the washer, run the tap in the laundry sink and see if it drains. A slow sink backs water up the hose and the washer thinks its pump died. If the sink's fine, then we check the washer's filter and the pump. See
washer repair.
Vintage range pilot won't stay lit: On old ranges with a standing pilot it's usually a dirty pilot opening or a worn-out thermocouple. We clean it, adjust the flame, and swap the thermocouple if it needs it. Smell gas? Shut it off and call SoCalGas first. See
range repair.
Retro fridge running warm: Coils first, since they're often tucked behind a decorative panel and full of dust. Then the fan and the thermostat. Some boutique brands use parts that have to be ordered, and we'll tell you how long before you decide. See
refrigerator repair.
Dishwasher leaves a white film: That's hard water. Rinse aid and a monthly cleaner help a lot. If the film won't come off and the dishes are still dirty too, we check the spray arms and the heater. See
dishwasher repair.
Garage dryer slow: Walk outside and look at the vent flap on the garage wall. Stuck shut with lint? There's your problem. If it's clear, we check the vent run, then the heater or the gas valve coils. See
dryer repair.
Oven not holding temperature: Stick an oven thermometer in and compare. Way off? Usually it's the temperature sensor, or on a gas oven a weak igniter that cycles badly. Older ovens sometimes just need the thermostat calibrated. See
oven repair.
