Built-in fridge running warm: Beach side? Look at the grille (top or bottom, depends on the model) for salt crust and dust. Clean and still warm, we'd bet on a rusted condenser coil or a fan motor that's wearing out. See
refrigerator repair.
Outdoor ice maker quit: Check the date on the water filter first. After that it's usually scale on the valve or the plate, and near the beach the water fittings corrode. See
ice maker repair.
Wine column won't hold temperature: Dirty condenser, a failing fan or a door gasket that's not sealing anymore. We check all three before we touch the controls. See
wine cooler repair.
Gas range clicks but won't light: Sea air and boil-overs foul igniters and burner ports. Sometimes a cleaning does it, sometimes the igniter or spark module goes. See
range repair.
Washer won't drain after beach week: Sand in the pump filter or the door boot. Clean the filter at the bottom front first; if it's still sitting full of water, the pump may be done. See
washer repair.
Hood fan weak or noisy: Grease-loaded baffle filters, a motor on its way out, or a blower that's rusting on the coast. We've written about a
Gaggenau hood in Malibu too. See
range hood repair.
