Fridge dead after a power flicker: Okay, before anything else, check the breaker and make sure the outlet works, plug a lamp in or something. If the fridge has power and it's still dark, or it lights up but won't get cold, the board or one of the relays on it probably took the hit. We'll test it first, no guessing, and honestly after that we'd plug it into a surge protector. See
refrigerator repair.
Dryer running hot or shutting off: That's the long vent again, packed with lint, so the dryer cooks itself and trips the thermal fuse or the high-limit thermostat. Swapping the fuse alone is a waste of money if the vent's still clogged, so we clean the whole path and check the airflow before we leave. See
dryer repair.
Washer throws drain errors: Don't blame the washer yet. Pour a bucket of water down the standpipe or the laundry sink it drains into and see how fast it goes. Slow? That's a plumbing thing. Fast? Then we're looking at the pump filter, and after that the pump. See
washer repair.
Oven display blank or flashing: Kill the breaker for a minute and turn it back on, a lot of ovens come right back after a power blip. If it's still blank, it could be the control board, the clock, or just a connection that wiggled loose, and we'll track down which. See
oven repair.
Burner clicks but no flame: Did you just wipe the stove down? A wet burner does that. Let it dry, check the cap's sitting flat, clean the little holes if they're gunked up. Totally dry and still nothing but clicking means the igniter or the spark module is shot. See
range repair.
Dishwasher won't start: Silly question, but is the door latched all the way? Look for a child lock, and check the breaker. If it's none of those, it's usually the door switch, sometimes the control. See
